RP Luxury Watches Galleria

A Unique Blend of Nature and Artistry

The RP Luxury Watches Galleria, designed by Joseph Lee, is a commercial space that seamlessly integrates the beauty of nature with contemporary design. Inspired by the magnificent mountains and forests of Taiwan, this space embodies the Eastern architectural concept of creating a man-made, recreated nature rich in culture and philosophy.

The RP Luxury Watches Galleria stands out with its unique features and strengths. The store is themed around the concept of "animals roaming in mountains and forests," creating a visual representation of a primitive forest. The use of Taiwan cypress and stone from Huanlien and Taitung helps shape a natural scene of local mountains and forests within the space. The store's façade facing the street features a serene Japanese rock garden, known as Karesansui, creating a tranquil and artistic boutique window.

Inside the store, behind the see-through glass window and door, vibrant limited-edition BE@RBRICK bears inject youthful vitality into the subdued space. The design pays homage to the great master leoh Ming Pei, with white walls resembling paper for painting. Large slices of rock, weighing up to 200 kilograms, create a visual representation of rolling hills when paired with floor-to-ceiling gray mirrors. The arrangement of these elements not only creates a succession of layers but also represents the core concept of "animals roaming in mountains and forests."

The realization of this design is a testament to the skillful blending of traditional elements with modern techniques. The ceiling, inspired by the idea of "circular heaven and square earth," conceals the air conditioning within a curved dome. Customized laser-cut titanium-plated flying birds symbolize the twenty counties and cities in Taiwan, adding a touch of elegance to the reception section. Local cypress is used extensively throughout the space, including wooden grilles, unique-shaped wooden tables and chairs, and wooden walls, showcasing key elements of traditional culture.

The RP Luxury Watches Galleria spans 76 square meters and offers a seamless flow for customers to explore different watch brands. The inner showroom features a hardwood reception desk within a unique iron structure, displaying popular items such as Patek Philippe and Richard Mille watches. A stone bar counter and a wine rack made of Fluoric-acid tawny glass create a pleasant ambiance for VIP customers to enjoy tea and admire watches. Even the bathroom is finely designed with cypress and black rock, incorporating cloud-shaped mirrors and hardwood vanity counters to evoke a sense of flowing water and rolling clouds.

The RP Luxury Watches Galleria project was completed in October 2021, showcasing the designer's commitment to using locally sourced materials to reduce carbon emissions and promote the beauty of Taiwan's mountains and forests. Overcoming the challenges of creating an unconventional commercial display space, this design successfully merges aesthetics, culture, and a modern touch.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award acknowledges the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of the RP Luxury Watches Galleria, which meets professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
